Requirements
Willingness and readiness to learn
Ideas for products to develop during the course
Engineering knowledge - helpfull, but not mandatory
Description
In this course, you will learn how to plan, develop, and maintain a physical product according to a systematic method without having to rely on elusive creativity or luck.
The content of this course is based on the German "Konstruktionslehre" (En. Theory of Design) - an engineering methodology established in the 1970s, taught at elite German technical universities and used by many organizations. The premise of this method is to give engineers or product designers the tools and resources to easily break down any technical problem and arrive at an optimal solution that fulfills the customer's needs.
We will start by getting to know the scope and background of modern Product Development Processes, the current trends and challenges that impact the way we work. We will then learn why a systematic approach is best suited for tackling product development and introduce methods that form the basise of our technique.
Once this is covered, we will jump into the hands-on part of the course. It starts with gathering the product requirements, formulating its specs, and setting up a solution-neutral, graphical representation of our product's functionality - the Function Structure. It serves as a basis for developing discrete engineering solutions for each functionality and combining them into a working Product Concept.
In the next step, we will learn how to transform the Concept into a final Product ready to be manufactured, applying rules for simple, clear, and safe design.
The last chapter will teach you how to recognize, trigger, and handle Engineering Change after the Product release to accommodate changing customers' needs.
By the end of this course, you will be able to systematically develop your product idea and design it into a successful product without the risk of getting stuck or arriving at a sub-optimal result.
Who this course is for
Anyone with a product idea or working on a design project
Anyone interested in Engineering, Design and Development

English for German Speakers
MP4 | Video: h264, 1280x720 | Audio: AAC, 44.1 KHz
Language: English | Size: 611 MB | Duration: 1h 4m
Fix your mistakes and sound more natural when speaking English!
What you'll learn

Common mistakes made by Germans learning English
How to identify the difference between present perfect and simple past
How to form questions in English
False friends between German and English
Requirements
This course is appropriate for A2-C1 English learners.
Description
"My actual chef works by my company since 3 years."
If you've ever said a sentence like this, then this course is for you! While there are many similarities between German and English, there are also many differences which can cause trouble for German speakers who are learning English. Sometimes a word that looks like a German word actually means something very different in English. This course will help you sound more natural when you speak English and will help you to permanently correct some of these common mistakes.
When we learn a new language, it's common to find the similarities between our native language and the learned language and stick to them, because it's comfortable. However, this can be tricky, because sometimes something that sounds the same means something different, or just isn't how an English speaker would express themselves. Sometimes we don't even realize we're making a mistake, because the word or phrase sounds right to us in our native language; this is when mistakes become fossilized, or impossible to correct, because we've made the mistake so many times without realizing it was a mistake. This course aims to point out those mistakes you might be making (hopefully before they become fossilized) so you can correct them!
Topics you will find in this course
- False friends: Identifying words that look the same or similar in the two languages, but actually have different meanings
- Letter writing: Read and correct a letter for typical vocabulary, grammatical and punctuation mistakes
- Grammar: How to form questions and the difference between the simple past and present perfect tenses
- Other common mistakes and the reasons behind them
- Quizzes to test your knowledge on all of the above
This course is taught by Chris and Amanda, two English teachers who live in Germany. Together, they've taken their combined 20 years of experience to create this course specifically designed for German speakers.

Description
If you already have begun your journey as a freelancer and want to break into the next level, or if you are just starting out and want to transition into freelancing but hesitate to make the first step into uncertainty, if you are lost and in need of guidance - you came to the right place.
I wish I had this information when I was just starting out. I know how it can be confusing and frustrating at the beginning, when you don't know what your responsibilities and capabilities are or how to be assured of your financial and legal security while you are already in the game. As opposed to a well formed army with hierarchical structure like employment is, freelancing might feel like being a warrior who is alone in the field of war, where you have to rely on your own skills and deal with every challenge by yourself, which requires some knowledge of accounting, legal documentations, sales and marketing and whatnot. But the first step to successful freelancing is planning. Only by having a clear and precise financial plan you can secure and grow your freelance business and increase your profit.
Like anything in life, all of it can be learned through correct preparation, knowledge and training. So before you step into the battle with confidence, you have to do your homework first. And that is my aim - to prepare you for victory that lies ahead of you.
This course will support you, it will provide certainty and confidence in your abilities. You will feel comfortable dealing with clients and naming the price of your services or goods. You will gain experience and expand your horizons, and have a plan with guidance to reach your goals. Basically, you will have a plan - a map, with navigations and numbers, specifically designed and constructed for you, based on your current circumstances.
If you want to become a professional and successful freelancer in your field, and, most importantly, if you want to do what you love, get paid for it and have control over your schedule and working hours - then without hesitation explore freelancing.
And remember - you are worth more than you think, you just don't know it yet. So go on, enroll and let's breakdown your finances and reach your financial freedom.

10 Questions about Fat and 10 Solutions to Get it Off
What you'll learn
Lose weight and keep it off by understanding exactly what happens inside the body as we gain weight and exactly what we need to change to lose it again. No calorie restricted limitations necessary. It's about 'what' we eat. Not how much.
Understand how your own hormones can sabotage your weight loss efforts and what you can do to control them.
Add 10 user friendly yet impactful steps to your lifestyle to turn your health around.
Requirements
No prior knowledge is reguired
Be willing to make some habit changes.
Have a supportive family.
Description
Full description
Maintaining normal weight becomes more difficult as we get older, even if we are eating the same foods as we did when we were young. Making healthy food choices are often difficult because our stress levels are higher and our lives busy. We are constantly exposed to foods that claim to be healthy, yet are not and we are unaware of what 'fat' foods we may unwittingly be eating, as well as habits and patterns we may have developed over time, that together ruin our chances to become slim, or stay slim.
This course explains exactly what happens on a cellular, hormonal and metabolic level, in easy to understand layman's terms, when we eat certain foods. It explains what hormones are released in all of us and how they can sabotage our attempts to lose weight. It also explains how the same hormones in one person may lead to more weight gain than they do in another person as well as some fundamental, resolvable challenges that cause us to crave certain foods.
Stress impacts very poorly on weight. This course explains why this happens in order to understand why it is not a luxury to take time off to de-stress but rather a health necessity and certainly a 'slimming' necessity.
'Getting the body you want' covers the 10 most commonly asked questions (and gives solutions) and explains the processes in the body. It gives detailed explanations so that when any diet is attempted, you will have a deep understanding of what is likely to work for you and your unique body. There is no 'one size fits all'. We have differing genes and abilities to metabolize food but the 10 solutions are all solutions that will benefit no matter what your unique genetic and hormonal mix may be. Each solution impacts positively on the hormones and metabolic processes in specific but overlapping ways, to lead you towards a healthy, slim and energetic body, without going hungry...ever! Health is a process, not a quick fix, and each of the solutions can be incorporated at your own pace to minimize the yoyo effect of dieting.
This increased understanding will, in turn, increase the sustainability of your weight loss.

Biography
I trained initially as a podiatrist and then went on to do a Bachelor's Degree in psychology and communication. I live in South Africa and have a private podiatry practice specializing in diabetic and arthritic patients, but subsequent to that, I studied Exercise Science (SA), Health and Nutrition (UK) and Functional Medicine (USA). Functional medicine looks at the interplay between our genes, nutrition, lifestyle, exercise and stress and how that relates to health and chronic, non communicable conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis and ageing. My sub- studies include, pain management, detoxification, gut management, energy management, hormone and sexual health. I am concerned at the downward spiral in health care and believe strongly that much of our health status lies within our own power. Education is everything but most of us do not have the time to sift through the information to establish what will work for us in our own unique context. This course aims at changing that. I am committed to empowering people so they are informed and can make health choices that will impact positively on their life and vitality.

ABOUT THIS COURSE
You are about to learn powerful, expert-level skills to understand and speak about most problems of international politics like a confident expert even without prior university education in Politics or International Relations.
"Stop following world news all the time. Start understanding the world"
Trump, Brexit, terrorism... There is so much happening in the world. And whether we like it or not, we are constantly flooded with news headlines, giving us the illusion of understanding what's really happening.
In reality, rather than getting more clarity and understanding, we become more confused. We read a headline, and we don't have the time to process it, because we are very soon exposed to a new headline, with even more up-to-date piece of information.
Our understanding does not deepen.
Our horizons do not widen.
The focus is on speed rather than nutrition of the information we consume. The headlines have to be short and tell us the key message, because very likely we will not read the rest of the story.
We don't have the time to do this, because there is yet another headline just a scroll away. So the information presented to us is fragmented. Different pieces are disconnected.
For example, the coverage of world politics focuses too often on individuals and personalities, just to make the story more interesting.
And here is the truth most people don't know about
"Knowing facts is NOT the same as having knowledge, understanding and ability"
What you mostly get by following the news are the simple facts of what happens, when, and who is involved.
By the end of this course, you will know that there are far more important questions to ask. These include:
Why things happen?
Why political leaders act the way they do?
Why do states continue to act in certain ways even though we know from history that wars never bring any good?
Why wars and conflicts continue to erupt regularly?
Why issues such as Brexit develop in this particular way? Were they inevitable?
What are the connections between different problems?
Over the many years of researching and teaching international politics, I am now convinced that these questions are 100 times more important than the simple 'what happened and when' kind of information.
What You Will Get in This Course
Through this course, you will gain access to state-of-the-art, research-informed tuition delivered through highly-engaging and easy-to-follow video lectures and practical exercises.
Inside you will learn:
Specific theories and concepts which will allow you to take most problems of international politics, such as Trump's foreign policy or Brexit, and speak about them confidently with more depth and understanding.
How the so-called 'Levels of Analysis' framework can enable you to fill the gaps left by most news stories you will read on the Internet.
The working basics of the three most fundamental Theories of International Relations, so that you can incorporate the principles of those theories to your arguments, or you can spot when others operate with those theories even without realizing it.
How to skyrocket the impact of your arguments with concepts like: system level, anarchy, balance of power, realism, liberalism, norms and values, social construction, bureaucratic behavior, cognitive biases.
Very specific, word-for-word examples of how you can instantly apply your powerful new knowledge to write and speak about international politics topics which interest you.
How to take what you are about to learn in this course and start using it instantly. To that end, in addition to illustrating each point with examples throughout the course, I have also prepared a number of case studies concerning some of the timeliest and most pressing international problems, including Islamic terrorism, Brexit and Trump's foreign policy.
The university-level material which any teacher will take as a clear sign of your excellent preparation for the discussion or assessment.
The analytical framework which will automatically take your blog, articles or comments to the next level, demonstrating that you are indeed an expert.
How powerful but at the same time unacknowledged the concept of 'anarchy' is. It is truly a 'silent hero' of international politics!
How the seemingly boring idea of 'bureaucracy' can tell you significant things about how foreign policy develops.
How people think and act differently when working in groups, and what disastrous consequences this may have for foreign policy decisions.
The biases we all share, including Simplification Bias, Consistency Bias and Poor Estimation Bias, which can fundamentally impact foreign policy and international politics.
An ability to recognize the missing bits from the media coverage of international politics and to explain what is missing to other people.
What books to read thanks to my Recommended Reading List, so that you can keep educating yourself with the right literature and really take your skills to the next level.
From a student: "Very thorough, well delivered and interesting. The effort put in is admirable."
From a student: "This course is ideal for those who want a sturdy foundation in Political Science or International Relations and a great starting point for more advanced studies, or for those who want to discuss current events or the news on solid ground. Highly recommended!"
From a student: "This is a great course for anyone new to International Relations, or looking to brush up on the basic concepts. They also mention avenues and reading to go further, which is helpful for students looking for more academic depth and challenging rigor. The brief assignments challenge you to apply what was learned to real-life situations and examples. This is an important course in our modern world of soundbites taken as stories and angry opinions taken as fact."
From a student: "The teacher is a well-versed expert on the topic. I've only recently started the course, but his thoughtful approach to the material and its delivery is very obvious. I'm finding the course to be educational and very engaging."
From a student: "Good course that will provide a decent set of basic toolbox for your politics analysis needs. Very well structured and clearly explained with good samples. Yes, it did get my blood boiling on a few analytical conclusions which we'll have to agree to disagree about but.. this is exactly what good politics could should be doing! I hope to revisit for updates on analytics on future subjects. We live in a VERY interesting period of political changes and the tools will come handy. I can definitely see myself repeating the course in a few months/year to ensure the concepts remain fresh. Thanks!"

Description
UPDATE 2020: 1 new lecture
How to Theorise COVID-19
This video helps you find interesting International Politics dimensions of this crisis. We talk about health security, securitisation, militarisation, human security, globalisation, sovereignty, geopolitics, China, USA, and more. I also explain how you can include the discussion of COVID-19 in your essays and dissertations, if this is relevant to you.
ABOUT THIS COURSE
In this course, you will learn how to understand and explain international politics at a much deeper and more rewarding level than most people do.
You will also learn how to win arguments about international politics issues when you speak to other people.
"In order to achieve these objectives, you need to learn how to think and speak theoretically."
It may sound difficult, but actually, it is not. You just need someone with expert knowledge to explain it clearly using lots of real-life examples.
And that's what this course is about.
If you read this, I assume you have at least some interest in what's going on in world politics.
Whether you study for a degree at a university, or you are just generally interested in politics at the international level, there are very good reasons to follow the world news.
Brexit, Donald Trump, Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, wars, conflicts, cooperation, agreements, disagreements.
There is always so much happening. I assume you have at least some interest in some of those issues.
I also assume that you hope to learn something valuable about international politics.
You hope to educate yourself in order to take your understanding of international politics to the next level so that your interest or your passion can be more fulfilling and more rewarding.
If that's the case, this course is for you.
"You are going to learn how to understand and explain international politics with more insight and more expertise. You are also going to learn how to build more convincing arguments when speaking about international politics with others."
Why I Created This Course
If you are still unconvinced about the importance of thinking theoretically about international politics, I am going to suggest that, actually, most of us already think and speak theoretically.
The only problem is we don't know we do it. We do it unconsciously.
We say things like:
This political leader is irrational.
We say that something is in the national interest, or not in the national interest of our state.
We say that organisations such as the European Union or United Nations are ineffective.
All these statements contain theoretical concepts. If you don't know that, you are going to be disadvantaged in any discussion with someone who does know that.
I have created this course to help you recognise whenever yourself or someone else uses theory so that you can use that theory to support your own argument.
I have also created this course because we are overwhelmed with facts about international politics, and it is the purpose of theory to make sense of those facts.
We live in the times when we are really overwhelmed with facts. Our problem is not seeking and finding information about what's happening in the world.
Our actual problem is scrutinising and managing the information we receive.
We actually live in times where information is being pushed at us from all sides, and we must sometimes actively resist new information.
Now, don't get me wrong: we need to know the facts about problems to begin thinking theoretically about them.
What You Will Get in This Course
In this course, you are going to learn the exact formula to think and speak theoretically about international politics.
Yes, there is a simple formula to follow. I will explain it in detail and I will also show you lots of examples of how to use it to make your own arguments.
I will use some every-day examples to make the formula more understandable, and then I will properly apply it to a number of international security problems, so you get the full picture.
Inside you will learn
How to understand and explain international politics at a much deeper and more rewarding level than simply by consuming the news headlines as they arrive on your smartphone
The exact formula for developing powerful arguments about most problems of international politics
One question which you should always ask about any problem of international politics in order to begin thinking theoretically
Why thinking theoretically is 100 times more interesting and exciting than just knowing facts about international politics
The exact 3 steps to take any problem of international politics and explain it at a more fundamental, theoretical level
How to build your argument with the help of the most important and powerful theoretical concepts of international politics, including anarchy, balance of power, security dilemma, international norms and international integration.
How most people misunderstand the complexity of international politics
How we all use theory when we speak about problems of world politics, but we just don't realize it - and why it's a problem
How we can educate others to be more critical, more insightful and simply more accurate in how they perceive international politics
Why using 'common sense' to understand international politics can be deceptive and is inferior to applying theoretical thinking
Why it's untrue to assume that facts is all you need to understand what's happening in world politics
Why exactly facts don't speak for themselves
How to apply powerful theories of international relations to understand problems such as the North Korean nuclear crisis and the financial crisis of 2007/2008
What the ladder of abstraction is and why you should aim to climb as high as possible on that ladder
From a student: "This course is well-suited to anyone who wants to be able to speak about international politics with greater clarity and authority, or otherwise have a sturdy foundation and a solid starting point for diving deeper into the subject. As a prospective Political Science PhD student, I was already fairly familiar with most of the concepts introduced throughout the course, however, the course added to my familiarity with those concepts and provided me with a much more robust framework in which to organize my existing knowledge and marshal better arguments about the topics covered in it, such as the security dilemma. Moreover, I also gained new, valuable knowledge that will serve me well in my academic life. Learning about the ladder of abstraction, for instance, furnished me with a new tool with which to conceptualize and think about political problems on the world stage more effectively than before. No matter your background and your prior knowledge of world politics, you are bound to learn something new, build upon your knowledge and benefit from taking this course. For those reasons, I highly recommend this course and give it a well-deserved 5-star rating!"
My Promise to You
