The Great Trials of World History and the Lessons They Teach Us

The Great Trials of World History and the Lessons They Teach Us
The Great Courses / Douglas O. Linder | Duration: 12 h 04 m | Video: H264 640x360 | Audio: AAC 48 kHz 2ch | 3,32 GB | Language: English | 2017

What makes a trial one of the great ones in world history? According to award-winning law professor Dr. Douglas O. Linder of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, there are two main benchmarks.

First, the trial must have grabbed the attention of society in its own time and place, whether in the courts of ancient Greece or 20th-century Los Angeles.

Second, the trial must matter. Perhaps it matters because of how it shaped history; perhaps because it allows us in the 21st century to draw lessons that bring us closer to our highest ideals of justice; or perhaps because the trial provides an especially clear way of understanding a particular place or time.

No understanding of the past is complete without an understanding of the legal battles and struggles that have done so much to shape it. Inside a survey of world history's greatest trials are the key insights to critical issues we still talk about today, including:

• freedom of speech,
• the death penalty,
• religious freedom, and
• the meaning of equality.

And even when trials illustrate grave miscarriages of justice, they still have much to teach us about how law is an ever-evolving aspect of human civilization.

Join Professor Linder for The Great Trials of World History and the Lessons They Teach Us, a 24-lecture investigation of important legal cases from around the world and across the centuries.

Data Structures & Algorithms: Part 1

O1-Ckm-HWJ7o0k-Wl-Kl-OAH0-Ouq-Pp-Bw-NS3n-G.jpg

Data Structures & Algorithms: Part 1
Mp4 | Video: h264, 1920x1080 | Audio: AAC,48KHz, 2 Ch | 4.5h | 5.99 GB | Genre: eLearning | Language: English

Description

Studied Computer Science - but never really understood the complex topic of data structures and algorithms?

Or maybe you're a self-taught programmer, with little to no knowledge of this important topic.

Or perhaps you failed a job interview because you couldn't answer basic data structure and algorithm questions.

So, why are data structures so important these days?

Data structures and algorithms are patterns for solving problems. Developers who know more about data structures and algorithms are better at solving problems. That's why companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon always include interview questions on data structures and algorithms. They want to assess your problem-solving skills. They don't care how many programming languages and frameworks you're familiar with.

A complex topic made simple
That's why I made this course. I want to demystify data structures and algorithms once and for all.

I remember being hopelessly confused when my college lecturer tried to teach it, many moons ago. So I had to teach myself. Now I'm an expert on the topic, and I want to save you the dozens of hours I wasted at the library trying to wrap my head around it.

Packed with the most popular interview questions and step-by-step solutions

By the end of this course.
You'll be able to:

Ace your next coding interview
Write better, faster code
Become a better developer
Improve your problem solving skills
Master computer science fundamentals
Implement all the essential data structures from scratch
Master dozens of popular algorithms
What you're going to learn
This course is the first of a series. In this part, we'll be focusing on linear data structures. Part 2 is all about trees and graphs. Part 3 is about searching and sorting algorithms.

Here's what you're going to learn in the first part:

The Big O notation
Arrays
Linked Lists
Stacks
Queues
Hash Tables

This is the most comprehensive data structures and algorithms series online. Every example and exercise is picked from popular interview questions asked by Google, Microsoft, Amazon and other big companies.

Who is this course for?

Anyone preparing for a coding job interview
Computer science students whose lecturers failed to explain the topics
Self-taught developers who missed out on a computer science degree
Anyone who wants to become a better developer
Requirements
In this course, I use Java to teach the concepts but you can apply these concepts in any programming language. Our focus is on data structures and algorithms, not programming languages and tools.

All you need to take this course are some basic programming skills. If you know variables, loops, and conditional statements, you're good. If you need a quick refresher to get up to speed with Java syntax, you can watch the first part of my Java series.

You don't need any experience with data structures or algorithms.

Learn to Draw and Paint Environments from Imagination

What you'll learn

Perspective
Rendering Objects
Color and Lighting
Painting full detail landscapes
drawing and painting from imagination

Requirements

Photoshop OR Drawing Software
Wacom Drawing Tablet OR iPad Pro (with apple pencle) OR equivalent equipment
Basic Knowledge of how your drawing software works (i.e. work layers, change brushes, undo, change brush size etc)

Description

The Complete Environment Painting Super Course will give you a total introduction to digital painting landscapes and environments. Or your money back.

Throughout this course, you'll be taught the art and design skills you always wanted to learn. Whether you're just learning as a hobbyist, or you plan on becoming a professional digital illustrator or concept artist. This is the perfect course for you.

Throughout this course you'll be going through over 13 hours of live narrated content, over 30 lectures, and 55 downloadable resources. First I'll be bringing you through the very basics of perspective, then shading and rendering, and finally drawing and painting your very own beautiful scenes and backgrounds from scratch.

Here's what you'll get in this course:

Instant access to all 30 lectures, in 7 sections.

over 13 hours of live, narrated content where I'll be bringing you through every step in real time.

The course is laid out in an easy to understand format:

First I'll be teaching you the fundamentals of perspective. We'll go through 1 and 2 point perspective, offering the same assignments that I had when I was a student in some of the top design schools.

After that, I'll be teaching you the importance of lighting and how to shade and render the basic elements that create everything. Spheres, Cubes, Cones, and Cylinders. These are the elements that make up almost everything around us.

Next you'll be learning about color theory and which colors to choose for your shadows and lights. Color is an essential part of establishing the mood in a painting.

After this you'll be combining the basic forms in order to bring what we've learned so far together and make some recognizable scenes.

Next we move on to jumping straight into building our first scene. You'll start by drawing out a line work and setting up the perspective exactly how I taught you in the perspective lessons. We'll focus on composition and object placement to make the most of the space in our canvas. Focusing heavily on setting up our image to achieve a feeling of depth, which is one of the most important things in environment painting.

After this we refine the sketch to further enhance the idea. Redrawing it and making sure all of our elements are in place before painting.

Next we'll begin by roughly painting the main colors in. Figuring out what color everything is as well as how things change color the further they get away. Applying what we learned earlier in the color theory into some real painting situations.

Lastly after we get the main elements of our painting established. Our colors in place, and everything set up. We'll start detailing the painting and adding all the little elements that bring the painting to life. Painting grass, wood, fencing and trees.

In the next session we'll do another line work. Starting rough and working cleaner. I'll teach you to draw on top of a 3 point perspective grid.

This painting will be started by first finding all of our shadows before we start with colors. It's important to know our shadows and lighting before we start adding details.

After this the next few hours are spent adding tons and tons of detail. I'll be explaining how high detail images are really just a series of decisions made over and over and is actually quite simple. By the end of this section you'll be a master of detail!

Throughout this entire course you'll be learning:

How to use perspective and understand it

How to choose great and lively colors

6-week course using Substance painter as a tool for texturing game characters

This class will go over how to use Substance painter as a tool for texturing game characters. We will go over good practices on how to UV a character, bake required maps inside substance, and setting up a scene. We will also go over how to texture props, cloths and skin for a character's face and body (all required mesh provided). By the end of this class, students will have their textured assets presented inside their engine of choice. This course is about learning techniques using Substance Painter that students can later apply to their own projects.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Week 1 | Painter Basics
Going over substance UI | Creating a new scene | Baking from high to low poly, to get the necessary maps. | Texturing in painter. Using generators, procedruals, brushes, particles etc. with mask to maintain a non destructive workflow. | Going over smart materials and how to create own. | Exporting textures and making own presets for exporting. | Rendering inside substance painter
Week 2 | PBR Fundamentals and Texturing
PBR explanation | Briefly going over Uvs and best practices. | Exporting meshes from external software for substance | Using naming convention for baking | Importing externally baked maps | Texturing metallic/non-metallic props of a character. | Telling a story with textures
Week 3 | Texturing Cloths and Baking a face for texturing
Going over Uvs for cloths | Texturing Cloths | Going over Uvs for Face | Opening the high res sculpt in zbrush and going over how to bake a face with minimum bleeding in the bakes. | Extracting a cavity map in zbrush for the pore details. | Preparing it inside substance for texturing | Going over how to divide a character to maintain performance and save memory.
Week 4 | Texturing a Face in Painter
Going over principle of skin texturing | Demo on texturing a skin using painter.
Week 5 | Finishing the Face Textures
Detailing the skin albedo and adding specific details on it like mole, scars, tattoo, war paint etc. | Finalizing the Albedo | Creating the supporting maps inside substance : Gloss/Roughness, Translucency, Scatter, Detail weight map | Using the same knowledge to texture other parts of a human body
Week 6 | Presenting the Assets in Engine
Exporting the maps out of substance painter for either marmoset/unreal engine. | Setting up materials in Marmoset. | Setting up maretials in Unreal engine. | Getting some presentable images to showcase our textures
