Build an app with React, Redux and Firestore from scratch (Updated 6/2019)
HIGHEST RATED | Created by Neil Cummings | Video: h264, 1280x720 | Audio: AAC 48KHz 2ch | Duration: 28:45 H/M | Lec: 253 | 11.3 GB | Language: English | Sub: English [Auto-generated]

Learn how to build a web app with React, Redux and Firestore from beginning to publishing

What you'll learn
Students will be able to create an application using React, Redux and Firestore by the end of this course.
Students will improve their javascript

Requirements
Students should be familiar with HTML, CSS and Javascript
A computer with either Windows, Mac OSX or Linux is required
We will make use of (free) Google services so a Google account is necessary

Description
*** Re-recorded and fully up to date as at June 2019***

Do you want to learn React and Redux in the context of building a complete application? Do you want to learn about Firestore, the new Database offering from Google that provides 'live data' to our application? Are you the type of learner who gets most out of actually building an application rather than watching endless slides about how something is supposed to work? If so then this course is for you!

In this course we build a complete application from start to finish.

Every line of code is demonstrated and explained. We warm up by building a CRUD application in React, we then enhance it by adding Redux and following that we add in Firestore to provide the persistence layer for the application.

Here are just some of the things you will learn about in this course:

Setting up the developer environment

Creating a React application using the create-react-app utility from Facebook

Login and Register functionality using Firebase authentication

Adding social login for Facebook and Google into the application

Google maps and Places autocomplete integration

Photo uploading using drag and drop, with resizing and cropping of the images before upload

Adding a live chat system

Paging, Sorting and Filtering with Firestore

Infinite scroll for the pagination

Firestore database design

Creating reusable form components with Redux forms

Building a great looking application with Semantic UI

Many more things as well

Tools you need for this course

In this course all lessons are demonstrated using Visual Studio Code, a free (and really good) cross platform code editor. You can of course use your preferred IDE or Code editor of choice and any operating system you like... well as long as it's either Max OSX, Windows or Linux.

Is this course for you?

This course is extremely practical. About 90% of our time is spent actually building the application. If you are the type of person who gets the most out of learning 'by doing', then this course will be for you.

Please note that we do not start from zero coding knowledge. Whilst this is aimed at beginner/intermediate level, you will need to have some basic javascript knowledge (not a lot is needed) or if you are coming from another programming language then you should be fine with this course. It's designed to take you from beginner level to having the skills to build a much more significant application.

What do we do on this course

We are building a social events application, much like Facebook events or Meetup. Building a social application gives us opportunity to build more than just a simple CRUD application.

Who this course is for?
Beginner developers who have familiarity with HTML, CSS and JS who want to learn about React and Redux
Beginner developers who want to learn about Firestore, Google's new database service

Description
Visual Basic language often gets a bad rap, undeservingly. But don't let that distract you from learning it! Beginners can appreciate its English-like syntax, and more advanced programmers can appreciate its vast libraries and flexibility. It's part of the .Net family of languages, and as such, it allows you to program some truly amazing solutions. So, congratulations on choosing to learn this amazing language.

It is common experience among programmers that after learning the basics, you realize there is still so much more to learn! And the enthusiasm to learn if often not enough to make the leap from intermediate to more advanced programmer. You need to practice and work on improving your skills.

You see, the bad news is the code fear is real, and it hinders, or even stops your progress. The good news is that you can learn to eliminate it! And all it takes is a little practice and determination. And that's where this course will help you greatly!

The course goes over variety VB .net programming projects. I show you how to put the theory you learned into practice by showing you how to solve each exercise and walking you through all the Why's and How's.

Because the course covers all exercises from scratch, some of the concepts are repeated across multiple exercises. The course doesn't follow any particular guideline where each exercise builds up on the previous one, but rather serves as a comprehensive reference, allowing students to skip exercises that present concepts the student is already familiar with.

We'll go on a journey to program intermediate-level solutions using VB .Net techniques and concepts, such as Collections, Databases, OOP, LINQ, and much more.

You will learn how to translate the project requirements into a working code. You will learn to use many different programming concepts and pick the right one for your solution. But most of all, you will learn to think like a programmer!

This course is all about practice. Therefore, to benefit from this course, you need to be an active student. It doesn't matter if you are self-taught VB .Net programmer or attend a programming course. What matters is the time and effort you are willing to put into learning and practicing your skills.

There are no lectures in this course. However, I explain what I am trying to accomplish with each line of code, and touch on common pitfalls, too.

This is a course for intermediate level VB .Net programmers who need to put the concepts and theory they learned into practice, and for people who prefer to learn by doing.

If that's you, then let's code!

Who this course is for?
Anyone interested to move beyond beginner level of VB. Net
College students, Self-Taught students
Should have 6-12 months of experience coding in VB .Net
Anyone who likes Hands-On approach to learning

Description
We have a new class!

Search "iOS 9 Adventure" for the most up-to-date material.

Or you can scroll down to the very bottom of this page, and find my iOS 9 class in More From Nick Walter.

This is the class I wish I had when I was trying to learn iOS development. I have a unique perspective to teach this class because I've been the newb that couldn't understand tutorials or blog posts. No prior programming experience is required.

I will walk you through everything you need to start making apps. Getting Xcode (the program we use to make apps) setup and on your machine, making a developer account with Apple, and running the iPhone and iPad simulator on your mac.

I firmly believe that the best way to learn is by doing. So we'll make a series of 8 killer apps, each app going into depth on teaching the most important iOS app development skills. Here is an overview of the apps we'll be making:

Apps that...
...record audio with the microphone
...use the front and rear cameras on iOS devices
...leverage game principles (FLAPPY BIRD clone)
...connect with Twitter
...use GPS information
...connect with PARSE to make a social network
...use Bluetooth
...and more
Once each of these apps are built, I'll teach you everything you need to know to submit these apps to the App Store. We'll also cover how to make money in iOS, and how you can continue to stay in the loop as an iOS developer and keep up with the latest and greatest. These topics could be a whole class in and of itself!

What makes me the right teacher?

I have 9 iOS apps in the App Store which total over 300,000+ downloads
I teach more than 17,000 other students in my conglomerate of highly rated Udemy courses
I use an energetic and engaging course style that involves students. I guess you could say, I'm far from a robot. and it should be entertaining :)
I have been doing iOS development for 4+ years
When I was first learning iOS development, I was often confused by wordy blog posts and tutorials. I'll never talk over your head.
I created the first Udemy Swift course and also teach the highly rated "Apple Watch - Go From Newbie to Pro by Building 15 Apps" course.

People who want to make apps. I will not be teaching wordy or complicated computer science philosophies. I will be teaching you how to make apps that you can play with, share with friends & family, and offer to the world!

Who this course is for:
No programming experience required
