Bruce Arnold's - Jazz Guitar for Beginners
DATA-DVD | English | MP4 + PDF tabs + MP3 jam tracks | 428 x 240 | AVC ~500 kbps | 29.970 fps
MP3 128 Kbps 44.1 KHz | 2 channels | ~3 hours | 1.16 GB

Genre: eLearning Video / Guitar lesson
As is the case with all of the arts, you can read all of the books on the subject but the only way to truly learn the form is to study with a master. And the sooner you find your mentor, the better.

Beginning Jazz Guitar is not just a solid starter jazz guitar course, it's also your apprenticeship with a jazz master who is supremely qualified to be your guide throughout the many study phases you will undertake on your journey towards becoming proficient in all aspects of jazz guitar.

Bruce Arnold may likely be the most talented, most prolific and most accomplished composer, player and jazz educator on the planet. Bruce runs the guitar programs at Princeton University and New York University, hosts the Summer Jazz Workshops in NYC, and is widely respected by peers and students alike as a "powerhouse in the world of jazz education."

Arnold has published over one hundred books and courses on subjects including improvisation, ear training, sight reading and rhythmic studies. With over twenty five CD and DVD recordings to his credit, Arnold tours internationally and has played with a diverse range of musicians including Stuart Hamm, Peter Erskine, Joe Pass, Joe Lovano, Lenny Pickett, Randy Brecker, Stanley Clarke, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Absolute Ensemble under the baton of Kristjan Järvi.

Arnold is enthusiastic about using software to accelerate the learning process. "Most beginner students realize that jazz is a complicated musical style and that they will need to develop a lot of tools to play it well. A famous jazz musician once said 'jazz can be taught in just three lessons; 1st lesson: practice for 10 years; 2nd lesson: practice and perform for 10 years; 3rd lesson: practice, perform and develop your art for 10 years.' Hopefully we can drastically shorten that 30-year cycle by leveraging some of the educational tools we have available to us today such as interactive video and online learning assets :)."

Beginning Jazz Guitar takes ready advantage of today's educational technologies. "Before we had tools like the Internet, DVDs, CD-ROMs and software, it took much longer to learn because it was harder to access relevant information. I've included all of the information in this course that I consider to be important components in your early development as a jazz musician."

All of the great players agree that the best first step is learning the basics no matter how arduous that task might be. "The exercises I recommend will range from inspiring to challenging. The inspiring ones will keep you coming back to the guitar each day; the challenging ones will build and strengthen your chops. You're learning a new language and this takes time and dedication. Stick with it and you'll reap rewards that you'll enjoy for rest of your life."

Arnold makes the learning process fun and engaging. "You'll "play" your way through the Beginning Jazz Guitar lessons by applying the scales, arpeggios and techniques that I teach you, over dozens of practice rhythm tracks that I've prepared for you. This way you put your newly gained knowledge to immediate use by learning how to improvise right from the start."

"Bruce Arnold may likely be the most talented, most prolific and most accomplished composer, player and jazz educator on the planet."

Technics Publications - Data Modeling Overview for Managers and Business Analysts
Duration: 1h 16m | Video: h264, yuv420p, 1280x720 | Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, 1 ch | 192 MB
Genre: eLearning, Programming | Language: English

Video Description

Bill explains to a manager and business analyst audience the basics of data modeling. The concept of a data model is explained, its benefits and the different layers of data models. Bill covers:
Data Model Overview. Bill provides a management's perspective to data modeling. Bill talks about how the data model can help us go from chaos into an organized world. Bill explains what the data model is and covers the three levels of modeling. He covers the process of going from the model to database design.
Importance of the Data Model. Bill explains why the data model is an invaluable map and compass of an organization's data. The rules of data model are covered along with how the data model is used within a data warehouse. The data model's role in source/target mapping is also discussed.
Generic Data Models. A bank scenario is used to explain the value of leveraging industry-wide generic data models. Len Silverston's models are introduced as well. Bill shares words of caution on using generic models, such as the amount of customization that may be needed to make it useable within your organization. Both operational and analytical generic models are discussed.
Data Model Mappings. Bill discusses the process of getting legacy data into a data warehouse using the data model and mapping to the data model. Bill provides the criteria for choosing an appropriate data source for the data warehouse.
Data Model Mechanics. The three levels of data models are discussed: high, medium, and low level. The high level is called the entity level, the medium is called the data item set (DIS) level, and the low level is called the physical design level. Bill explains the differences between atomic and derived data. He goes into detail into each of the three levels of data models, and talks about the benefits of each level. Characteristics at the physical level are covered, such as indexing and denormalization.

David Hamburger's - 50 Jazz-Blues Licks You MUST Know
DATA-DVD | English | MP4 + PDF tabs + MP3 jam tracks | 864 x 486 | AVC ~718 kbps | 29.970 fps
MP3 128 Kbps 44.1 KHz | 2 channels | ~3 hours | 1.22 GB

Genre: eLearning Video / Guitar lesson

Hamburger digs deep into the 50s and 60s, when labels like Blue Note, Prestige and Riverside were serving up the funky, down-home music of guitarists like Kenny Burrell, Grant Green and Wes Montgomery, all of whom inspired some of the jazzed blues lickage in this collection. These alone are worth the price of admission, but as we all know, Hamburger is the consummate over-achiever and he sure didn't stop there...

For maximum groovalocity, Hamburger also explores the bluesy-funky-jazzy stylings of saxophonists Stanley Turrentine, Hank Mobley, Lou Donaldson and Jimmy Forrest, trumpeters Blue Mitchell, Kenny Dorham and Lee Morgan, and pianists Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Peterson and Hank Jones. Learning to play these horn and piano licks on guitar will take you places on the fretboard that you've never been before, both physically and sonically. Wanna turn heads at the gig? Get a grip on these fresh melodic and harmonic approaches for getting around chord changes.

50 Jazz-Blues Licks will have you blowing the changes through every possible transition of a 12-bar blues, from I to IV, from IV back to I, from V to IV to I, and from ii to V to I. With the material organized this way, you won't just learn a bunch of licks - at each step of the way, you'll know exactly how each lick works in the context of the blues progression and know exactly how to incorporate it into your playing, whether that's over a I-IV-V shuffle, a bop blues with a iii-VI-ii-V turnaround, or a funky straight-eighths tune.

All of the licks are presented in context over a rhythm track, which you'll later use to practice with. Hamburger first performs the example and then breaks it down for you note-by-note, technique-by-technique. All of the examples are tabbed, notated and also formatted as Power Tab and Guitar Pro files.

50 Jazz-Blues Licks You MUST Know shows you how to steal fire from the soulful heights of the classic hard bop era and bring it back down to earth to shed new light on the blues - and burn up the fretboard doing so!
