Brief, draft, review and use AI on real project work - plans, status updates, risks and decisions you can defend.
What you'll learn
⚡ Choose AI tasks you can actually verify and recognize the ones you should keep for yourself.
⚡ Write a clear brief that gives an assistant the task, the context, the boundaries and the output you need.
⚡ Turn a brief into a scope draft, work packages and a draft timeline then challenge the plan before you share it.
⚡ Produce meeting logs, agendas, sponsor updates and escalations from evidence, without inventing owners, dates or approvals.
⚡ Use AI to surface risks, run a focused premortem and compare change options against clear criteria.
⚡ Review any AI output with four practical checks: accuracy, relevance, traceability and actionability.
⚡ Recognize stale context, unsupported claims and "effort vs. duration" errors before they reach a stakeholder.
⚡ Build a repeatable Brief → Draft → Review → Use workflow, with a prompt record you can reuse on your next project.
Requirements
❗ No coding is required. Everything in the course works through plain-text prompts.
❗ Access to any general-purpose AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or an internal tool). The method is tool-independent.
❗ Some experience running or supporting projects. Familiarity with meeting notes, scope, estimates and status reporting is all you need.
Description
AI can give you a polished project plan, a status update, or a recommendation in seconds. But when your sponsor asksWhere did this date come from? orWho approved this?, can you defend the answer? That gap - between text that looks finished and work you can actually rely on - is what this course closes.
Prompt Engineering for Project Managers is a practical, tool-independent course built around the way project work really happens: imperfect information, changing scope, a shared reviewer who is already busy, and a sponsor waiting for clarity. You will not memorize a library ofmagic prompts. You will learn a repeatable method - Brief, Draft, Review, Use - that keeps facts, assumptions, unknowns, and approvals visible, and that adapts to whichever AI assistant your organization allows.
One realistic project, every skill connected
Instead of jumping between unrelated examples, the whole course follows one fictional employee-onboarding project across HR, IT and Operations, with an eight-week launch target. The evidence changes as the project moves forward: a project brief, meeting notes, weekly updates, a change request and a final decision pack, each labeled so you can trace every claim back to its source. You will see exactly how one prompt, one assumption, or one wording choice affects the next step - and how to catch the moment arequested translation quietly becomes anapproved one.
What you will do, module by module
✅Choose useful AI tasks: Learn which tasks AI does well for a project manager, which need a human decision, and how to check a result before it enters the project.
✅Write a clear brief: Give the assistant the task, the context, the boundaries, and the output format - and use a reusable starting prompt that answers five questions every time.
✅Build a workable plan: Turn a brief into scope, work packages with completion evidence, and a draft timeline that you treat as a hypothesis, not a commitment.
✅Communicate with purpose: Produce meeting logs, decision-focused agendas, sponsor updates, and constructive escalations from evidence, without inventing owners or dates.
✅Examine risks and changes: Ground risks in project facts, run a focused premortem, assess a change before approving it, and ask for recommendations that carry their conditions.
✅Review before you rely: Apply four quality checks - accuracy, relevance, traceability, actionability - audit claims against supplied sources, repair problems precisely, check the numbers outside the prose, and refresh stale context.
✅Build your repeatable workflow: Save prompts with their operating instructions, separate the method from the tool, reuse a weekly-update template and work a final case in three passes: establish what is true, communicate the current state, make the next decision useful.
Each module ends with a pause-and-think question, so you commit to an answer before the reasoning is revealed. The final case brings everything together: five current evidence items, three possible headlines for the sponsor, and a defensible answer that preserves the difference between a target and a verified forecast.
Your course project
You will take one small recurring task you already understand - a meeting log or a weekly sponsor update - brief the assistant, review the first draft, correct what needs fixing, and finish with a final artifact plus a reusable prompt record. An editable Word workbook and a printable PDF are included so the project is easy to complete and keep.
What makes this course different
✅ It is built for project managers, not developers. No coding, no API keys, no automation.
✅ It is tool-independent. The method works in any chat-based assistant; the course shows you how to check what your approved tool can actually do and how to adapt.
✅ It treats review as the real work. Every draft is compared with evidence, and the course names the specific errors that slip through - unsupported claims, stale context, confused approvals, and effort mistaken for schedule.
✅ It stays honest about the limits. AI can organize information, create drafts, explore options, and expose gaps. Your judgment is what turns that work into something useful - and the course is designed to strengthen it, not replace it.
Who this is for
Project managers, delivery leads, PMO analysts, scrum masters, team leads, and product managers who write plans, updates, and recommendations every week and want AI help they can defend. If you already understand how your projects work and want a method rather than a bag of tricks, this course is for you.
How this course was made
AI was used to build this course - which is exactly what the course asks you to do with your own work. AI helped with production; the method, the examples, and every judgment call are mine, and I reviewed everything before it shipped. Brief, Draft, Review, Use: the same workflow you will learn here, applied to the course itself.
