A working understanding of enterprise wireless fundamentals (SSIDs, WLANs, access points, controllers) - CCNA-level networking knowledge is sufficient
Basic familiarity with the Cisco IOS XE command line is helpful but not required - every command shown is explained in context
No prior ISE or Catalyst Center experience is assumed - both are introduced from first principles as they become relevant
Access to a Catalyst 9800 (physical, virtual, or lab environment) is recommended for hands-on practice, but is not required to follow the course or complete the exercises

Wireless networks fail in the seams between systems - between the Catalyst 9800 and Cisco ISE, between a branch office and the data centre, between what a controller enforces and what an engineer assumes it enforces. This course is built around those seams. It follows the WLSI 300-120 v1.2 exam blueprint domain by domain, but every domain is taught the way it actually shows up in production: as a configuration you build, a symptom you diagnose, and a design trade-off you have to defend.
You will work through all eight official exam domains in order of their exam weighting. You will start with FlexConnect - the switching and authentication decisions that determine what a branch access point can and cannot do when its WAN link fails. You will move through Quality of Service and the physics of why multicast behaves so differently on a shared radio channel than it does on a wire. You will build a working understanding of Location Services and Cisco Spaces, including CMX, captive portals, and wIPS. And you will spend the largest share of the course - fully 20% of the exam - on the domain that ties everything together: client security, where the Catalyst 9800 enforces policy that Cisco ISE decides, and where nearly every real-world escalation lives in the gap between the two.
The course closes with Monitoring and Device Hardening, then an additional module of ten realistic field cases - a WAN outage that behaves exactly as designed, a guest portal that fails at exactly one store, a certificate that expires on a Monday morning across an entire estate - each one built to show you that real faults sit at the boundary between domains, not neatly inside one.
Every lesson follows the same structure: a plain-English explanation of the concept, the exact Catalyst 9800 and ISE CLI needed to configure it (with common pitfalls called out explicitly), a 5-question knowledge check, and - wherever it fits - a hands-on exercise with a fully worked solution so you can check your own configuration against a reference answer.
By the end of this course you will be able to configure, troubleshoot, and defend design decisions across FlexConnect, QoS, Multicast, Location Services, Client Security (802.1X, EAP, CWA, LWA, BYOD, certificates, TrustSec), Monitoring (Catalyst Center, ISE, sensors), and Device Hardening - the complete WLSI 300-120 v1.2 blueprint.
