Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III (Deluxe Edition) [Vinyl, 2xLP] (2014) Hi-Res
Marking a fascinating and brilliant stylistic departure for the British rock giants, Led Zeppelin’s third studio album, 'Led Zeppelin III' (1970), captures the band embracing deep acoustic landscapes, Celtic folklore, and rustic country blues. Written primarily during a legendary retreat at the remote, electricity-free Bron-Yr-Aur cottage in Wales, the record beautifully juxtaposes their signature heavy assault with astonishingly intricate acoustic textures. While opening with the thunderous, Viking-inspired proto-metal roar of "Immigrant Song" and featuring the agonizingly intense, slow-burning blues masterpiece "Since I've Been Loving You", the heart of the album beats within the rich, multi-layered mandolin, dulcimer, and acoustic arrangements of tracks like "Gallows Pole", "Tangerine", and "That's The Way".
This spectacular Deluxe Edition double-LP reissue, meticulously remastered by Jimmy Page from the original analog master tapes on 180g vinyl, couples the genre-bending studio album with an indispensable companion disc of unreleased alternate takes. Sourced from the 2014 Atlantic European pressing, the companion audio features rare gems including "Bathroom Sound" (an explosive instrumental backing track of "Out On The Tiles"), an alternate mix of "That's The Way" showcasing unique dulcimer overdubs and backwards echo effects, and the legendary, sprawling blues medley "Key To The Highway / Trouble In Mind". Captured with pristine transparency on Rockmaninov's high-end vintage signal chain—centered around a 1982 Yamaha PX-3 linear turntable and a Sumiko Black Bird cartridge—this 24-bit / 192 kHz transfer fully preserves the airy acoustic instrument separation and dynamic breath of the historic sessions.
