Nicholas Brody spent eight years in Iraq captivity. Successfully rescued and released he returns home. Everyone considers him a hero. But Carrie Mathison from CIA doesn’t believe in Brody's heroic fame. Mathison was in Iraq too and obtained there important warning: among USA prisoners one person turned to Al-Qaeda site. Officer Mathison suspects sergeant Brody must be that prisoner. Often ignoring the protocol Carrie wants to expose Brody. A future terrorist attack Brody might take part in worries her. Nuclear facilities in Iran had been attacked. It caused the great objection through the whole muslim world, islamic countries deprecate Israel with it’s agressive politics. A lot of criticism is aimed against the US for supporting Israel. In Nicholas Brody’s family there are still many difficulties with the daughter’s bringing up. The tension grows even more when Brody’s wife understands that her husband is Muslim. Carrie Mathison goes to Beirut and only through her efforts the CIA receives an opportunity to get really close to Abu Nazir and to capture him.
But that doesn’t guarantee Carrie the praise she was hoping to get.
Meanwhile, Mr. Brody becomes even more famous and successful person. He is an honorable congressman who enjoys his fame as a war veteran. All the suspicion concerning his involvement in subversive activity is now forgotten, he looks totally “clean” to the public. But it looks like he won’t be able to hide his secret life from his wife for a long time.

Now Carrie insists on Brody’s innocence, while he himself is on the international wanted fugitives list. $10 million reward is promised for his capture. Mathison intends to justify him and ask for help in finding the spy who is responsible for terrorism attack. Difficulties with teenage daughter continue to disturb peace in Brody’s family - after suicide attempt she improves her mental health in rehab center and then leaves it. But her behavior brings more and more worries, especially when she escapes to her boyfriend. Information about Carrie’s bipolar disorder is revealed to public by Saul. Those news really stun her. In revenge she opens up her opinion about Brody’s innocence to news reporter. It doesn’t take long time for her to get in mental hospital, she was put there by Dar Adal. Her paranoia gets even tougher there, Quinn’s visit and attempts to warn her doesn’t improve anything. Brody is shown hiding in South America where he gots shot twice. After that he is transported to Caracas so that local doctor could save his life.
