Python is a high-level, general-purpose programming language. Its design philosophy emphasizes code readability with the
use of significant indentation. Its language constructs and object-oriented approach aim to help programmers write clear, logical code for small- and large-scale projects
MariaDB Server is one of the most popular open source relational databases. It's made by the original developers of MySQL so they share some similarities.
In this course you learn how to interface a Python application program with a MariaDB Server Database. Python has various modules that you can use to interact with databases. We will install a database connector module to enable us interact with MariaDB Server database from our Python application.
We will be installing Python and MariaDB database server and also create a new database and table that our Python application will interact with.
We will create the Python application frontend using Tkinter which is a built in Python module used to create graphical user interfaces . From tkinter module we will import ttk module which is a themed widget library that contains various types of widgets like buttons, labels etc that we can use to build the graphical user interface for our Python application. We will also import other bits and pieces from the tkinter module that our Python application will use.
Also we will create a database configuration file that will be used to interact with the MariaDB Server database from our Python application. We will also be creating a class with methods and also stand alone functions for our application.
When the application is complete we will be able to perform CRUD operations on the MariaDB database from our Python application.

Description
A stored procedure is a prepared SQL code that you can save, so the code can be reused over and over again.
So if you have an SQL query that you write over and over again, save it as a stored procedure, and then just call it to execute it.
You can also pass parameters to a stored procedure, so that the stored procedure can act based on the parameter value(s) that is passed.
A stored procedure is used to retrieve data, modify data, and delete data in database table. You don't need to write a whole SQL command each time you want to insert, update or delete data in an SQL database.
Benefits of using a stored procedure
It can be easily modified: We can easily modify the code inside the stored procedure without the need to restart or deploying the application. For example, If the T-SQL queries are written in the application and if we need to change the logic, we must change the code in the application and re-deploy it. SQL Server Stored procedures eliminate such challenges by storing the code in the database. so, when we want to change the logic inside the procedure we can just do it by simple ALTER PROCEDURE statement.
Reduced network traffic: When we use stored procedures instead of writing T-SQL queries at the application level, only the procedure name is passed over the network instead of the whole T-SQL code.
Reusable: Stored procedures can be executed by multiple users or multiple client applications without the need of writing the code again.
Security: Stored procedures reduce the threat by eliminating direct access to the tables. we can also encrypt the stored procedures while creating them so that source code inside the stored procedure is not visible.

Database design is the organization of data according to a database model. The designer determines what data must be stored and how the data elements interrelate. With this information, they can begin to fit the data to the database model. Database management system manages the data accordingly.
A properly designed database provides you with access to up-to-date, accurate information. Because a correct design is essential to achieving your goals in working with a database, investing the time required to learn the principles of good design makes sense. In the end, you are much more likely to end up with a database that meets your needs and can easily accommodate change.
You will learn how to decide what information you need, how to divide that information into the appropriate tables and columns, and how those tables relate to each other.
It is a good idea to write down the purpose of the database on paper - its purpose, how you expect to use it, and who will use it. For a small database for a home based business, for example, you might write something simple like "The customer database keeps a list of customer information for the purpose of producing mailings and reports." If the database is more complex or is used by many people, as often occurs in a corporate setting, the purpose could easily be a paragraph or more and should include when and how each person will use the database. The idea is to have a well developed mission statement that can be referred to throughout the design process. Having such a statement helps you focus on your goals when you make decisions.
Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. As a database server, it is a software product with the primary function of storing and retrieving data as requested by other software applications-which may run either on the same computer or on another computer across a network.
SQL Server Management Studio is a software application first launched with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 that is used for configuring, managing, and administering all components within Microsoft SQL Server.

Hi, I am Dr. Adarsh Gupta. I have been counseling people on a healthy lifestyle, weight management, and improving health for over 15 years. I have taught thousands of medical students, medical residents, physicians, nurses, and the general audience. Teaching is in my blood. I have given lectures to an audience of 15 people to an audience of 1500 people. I have presented locally to internationally.
I am also a researcher and have over 90 publications (some of these publications are listed below). I am an associate editor of Cochrane Clinical Answers (a prestigious medical resource). Besides teaching health-related topics, I also teach medical informatics and evidence-based medicine. All the lectures in this course are backed by scientific evidence.
In my over fifteen years of experience, I have learned some unique strategies that are not typically taught in textbooks. These strategies have worked with thousands of people I counseled, and they have improved their health and well-being.
I am very hopeful that you will find this course helpful in developing a healthy lifestyle that you can keep. I always tell everyone, "The key to a successful healthy lifestyle change is making changes in your eating and physical activity habits that you can keep for the rest of your life." I do not like the word "diet" and do not recommend any diet to anybody. I emphasize eating till you are comfortably full and never tell anyone not to eat a particular food. SUMMARY
1. Current through a given area of a conductor is the net charge passing per unit time through the area.
2. To maintain a steady current, we must have a closed circuit in which an external agency moves electric charge from lower to higher potential energy. The work done per unit charge by the source in taking the charge from lower to higher potential energy (i.e., from one terminal of the source to the other) is called the electromotive force, or emf, of the source. Note that the emf is not a force; it is the voltage difference between the two terminals of a source in open circuit.
3. Ohm's law: The electric current I flowing through a substance is proportional to the voltage V across its ends, i.e., V ∝ I or V = RI, where R is called the resistance of the substance.
4. The resistance R of a conductor depends on its length l and constant cross-sectional area A through the relation.
5. In most substances, the carriers of current are electrons; in some cases, for example, ionic crystals and electrolytic liquids, positive and negative ions carry the electric current.
6. Current density j gives the amount of charge flowing per second per unit area normal to the flow, j = nq vd where n is the number density (number per unit volume) of charge carriers each of charge q, and vd is the drift velocity of the charge carriers.
7. Using E = V/l, I = nevd A, and Ohm's law, one obtains the proportionality between the force eE on the electrons in a metal due to the external field E and the drift velocity vd (not acceleration) can be understood, if we assume that the electrons suffer collisions with ions in the metal, which deflect them randomly.
8. In the temperature range in which resistivity increases linearly with temperature, the temperature coefficient of resistivity α is defined as the fractional increase in resistivity per unit increase in temperature.
9. Ohm's law is obeyed by many substances, but it is not a fundamental law of nature. It fails if (a) V depends on I non-linearly. (b) the relation between V and I depends on the sign of V for the same absolute value of V. (c) The relation between V and I is non-unique. An example of (a) is when ρ increases with I (even if temperature is kept fixed). A rectifier combines features (a) and (b). GaAs shows the feature (c).
10. Kirchhoff's Rules - (a) Junction Rule: At any junction of circuit elements, the sum of currents entering the junction must equal the sum of currents leaving it. (b) Loop Rule: The algebraic sum of changes in potential around any closed loop must be zero.
11. The potentiometer is a device to compare potential differences. Since the method involves a condition of no current flow, the device can be used to measure potential difference; internal resistance of a cell and compare emf's of two sources.
