Programming Foundations: Object-Oriented Design
MP4 | Video: AVC 1280x720 | Audio: AAC 44KHz 2ch | Duration: 2 Hours 40M | 1.04 GB
Genre: eLearning | Language: English

All good software starts with a great design. Object-oriented design helps developers plan applications before they write a single line of code, and break down ideas into reusable and maintainable components. This course focuses on the foundational concepts, teaching them in a fun, interactive way to help you quickly develop your skills. Tag team Olivia and Barron Stone introduce you to the concepts and terms-objects, classes, abstraction, inheritance, and more-that you need to get started. They then show how to take the requirements for an app, identify use cases, and map out classes using Universal Modeling Language (UML). The final design can then be translated into code using one of the many popular object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, C#, Ruby, or Python.

Meaning of Life: Perspectives from the World's Great Intellectual Traditions
WEBRip | AVI/XviD, ~829 kb/s | 640x480 | 18:39:06 | English: MP3, 128 kb/s (2 ch) | 7.59 GB
Genre: eLearning Video / Philosophy, History
What is the meaning of life? It's a question every thoughtful person has pondered at one time or another. Indeed, it may be the biggest question of all. Most of us have asked ourselves this question at some time, or posed it to somebody we respect. It is at once a profound and abstract question, and a deeply personal one. We want to understand the world in which we live, but we also want to understand how to make our own lives as meaningful as possible; to know not only why we're living, but that we're doing it with intention, purpose, and ethical commitment.

But how, exactly, do we find that meaning, and develop that commitment? How can we grasp why we are here? Or how we should proceed? And to whom, exactly, are we supposed to listen as we shape the path we will walk?
The Meaning of Life: Perspectives from the World's Great Intellectual Traditions is an invigorating way to begin or to continue your pursuit of these questions, with no previous background in philosophical or religious thought required. Its 36 lectures offer a rigorous and wide-ranging exploration of what various spiritual, religious, and philosophical traditions from both the East and the West have contributed to this profound line of questioning.
Guided by Professor Jay L. Garfield of Smith College-as well as of the University of Massachusetts, Melbourne University in Australia, and the Central University of Tibetan Studies in India-you'll gain insights from a broad array of sources, including these:
Ancient Indian texts, including the Bhagavad-Gita
Foundational Chinese texts such as the Daodejing and the Chuang Tzu
Classical Western texts such as Aristotle's Nichomachean Ethics and Marcus Aurelius's Meditations
Modern philosophers such as David Hume, Immanuel Kant, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Leo Tolstoy
The unique perspectives offered by Native Americans; in this case, the Lakota Sioux medicine man and writer, John Lame Deer
More recent and contemporary philosophers, such as Mohandas Gandhi and the Dalai Lama

Enjoy a Journey Rich in Knowledge and Perspective

The ability to ponder your own relationship with the universe and with others is perhaps one of the greatest benefits of being human. Even if you do not find a final answer to the question this course poses, each answer you consider cannot help but add depth and nuance to your own contemplation of how to live.
In considering the range of approaches to this question developed over the course of human intellectual history, you'll increase your own storehouse of wisdom, enabling you to shape a life that is as meaningful and satisfying as possible, heightening your appreciation of every moment.
The Meaning of Life is a course rich in wisdom, including the realization that although a single answer to the question may forever elude you, that elusiveness is no great tragedy. More important is the search itself, and the insights you'll gain as you realize that just as different traditions provide a vast diversity of answers, so, too, do they consistently return to recurring themes:
One's relationship to a larger context
The boundaries created by temporality and impermanence
The pursuit of a larger purpose, or even the goal of perfection
The value of spontaneity, even though the ideal of that characteristic differs from one tradition to another
The importance of freedom, whether from social norms and standards; religious, social, or political authority; external constraints; consumerism; or even philosophical ideas themselves
The commitment to live authentically

Find Common Ground with History's Most Profound Thinkers

For anyone who has spent time grappling with these ideas themselves, it is a comfort to see that even some of history's most profound thinkers have wrestled with these problems, engaging in a conversation thousands of years in length and rich in insight.
For example, while many of them agree on the importance of authenticity, their agreement marks not the end of the conversation, but its beginning.
Should that authenticity, as Kant and Mill believed, be epistemic, found in the hard work of serious reasoning over political, moral, and scientific issues so that we can propagate the answers we discover?
Should it be what we might call an aesthetic authenticity-a life lived truly in harmony with a beautifully visualized fundamental reality? Such a view attracted figures as varied as Nietzsche, the Zen writer Dogen, and Laozi, the possibly mythical figure credited with authorship of the Daodejing.
Or should it be instead a natural authenticity, so that you live your life as Lame Deer advocated, striving for harmony with the natural world in the face of a modern civilization whose every construct seems designed to make that impossible?
One of The Meaning of Life's great virtues is the ease with which Professor Garfield organizes and makes cohesive the vast range of perspectives. At every stage of the course, the relationship of each writer or tradition to all of the others is clear and logical, no matter how intricate or demanding a line of argument might be.
Dr. Garfield-teaching his material with extraordinary passion and thoroughness-shows great skill in unpacking the substance of each source, presenting it clearly and positioning it in its proper place within a philosophical conversation that has been going on for millennia.
And when an idea might otherwise present vexing complexities, he unveils an additional-and superbly useful-teaching skill. For Professor Garfield has the gift of analogy, enabling him to relate even the most ancient or subtle texts to your own life in ways that show their relevance to how you live today.
With The Meaning of Life, Professor Garfield has put together an intellectually gripping course that is every bit the equal of the monumental subject it sets out to explore.
Professor Jay L. Garfield, Ph.D.

Melodic Phrasing Masterclass with Jake Willson (2018)
WEBRip | English | MP4 + PDF + MP3 | 1280 x 720 | AVC ~2979 kbps | 25 fps
AAC 317 Kbps 48.0 KHz | 2 channels | 01:09:43 | 1.23 GB
Genre: eLearning Video / Guitar lesson

Jake says 'How to play and phrase melodically is a subject I'm asked about all the time and the answer is often far too complex to get across in even a few 'one to one' lessons. So I thought I'd design this huge, in-depth course specifically to make you a more melodic and musical guitarist.
This masterclass will give you a step-by-step method, that will take the guesswork out of melodic playing. Whether you're composing or improvising, this masterclass will help you to make better note choices and give you all the tools you need to create more adaptable and melodic phrases in your own playing.'
After a brief introduction video, Jake jumps right in, getting you started with the core of this masterclass, a hugely in-depth PDF. We're not joking when we say 'huge' either - Jake seriously went to town with this masterclass and has written a 'gold mine' of over 16,000 words worth of explanations, tips, tricks and knowledge that you can pour into your playing. There's a reason why he's one of the best and it's abundantly evident in this masterclass!
In the exercises Jake puts the fundamentals of melody under the microscope. Bringing you along for the journey, he dives deep into the 'how' and 'why' behind each exercise. Doing this is going to help you to develop an understanding of how melody interacts with harmony and rhythm. You'll get a plethora of exercises, each serving the purpose of laying down the ground work required to make your playing more melodical.
After he has taken you through the fundamentals and you're clear of the exercise section, Jake outlines his own personal approach to developing melodic ideas and phrasing. In this section you'll get 22 licks (11 over each style backing), and not only will you learn some truly outstanding guitar licks, but Jake will 'reveal all' as he analyses the execution and concepts behind them one at a time in the masterclass PDF.
When all is said and done, Jake has written two backing tracks in different styles especially for this masterclass. The backings are stripped back and are structured like songs, leaving you enough room to apply everything you've learned to come up with your own melodies.
As ever, we have included everything you need to practise and perfect the material in this package. There are video and audio tracks for you to watch/listen and study, accurately transcribed TAB/notation for you to analyse and master, and backing tracks for everything!
So maybe you've been wondering how the pro's 'think' when coming up with the amazing guitar lines you hear from your favourite players. Or maybe you just want to take massive steps towards being able to really say something with your music. Either way, Jake's masterclass is going to give you invaluable insights into all of this and more, as you learn how to make your own playing vastly more melodic.
What's included...
Introduction Video
33 Page Masterclass PDF
61 Exercises (Audio/Video)
22 Licks (Audio/Video)
Lick Backings

Description
This Matlab course will help you to get started in your career as a student, researcher or scientist working with Matlab. Whether you need to pass an exam or apply data analysis on behavioral or physiological data, this course is definitely made for you. You will master the basics of Matlab in no time. You will be able to automate repetetive tasks and visualize your data in less than two hours. Very concise videos make it possible.
To introduce myself: I am a researcher myself (PhD student in sleep research, nice to meet you), who has worked and taught Matlab for more than 3 years now. I have realized how important it is to master Matlab to analyse your data yourself. Especially as a person completely new to programming, learning Matlab can be a quite exhausting experience. In this course, however, you will learn from application-based material, which is both concise and fun. I created this online course so that your Matlab journey is both as smooth and delightful as possible.
So have a nice trip, let me guide you through Matlab wonderland and enjoy the ride!
P.S.: This course will be continously improved with the feedback you give. I'm sure I can still learn a lot in respect to producing high-quality videos. As your enrollment guarantees access for all your life, you will benefit from it yourself, as well.
Who is the target audience?
Students, PhD students, scientists and researchers who have no or very little knowledge about Matlab and only a very basic understanding of programming itself.
Students, PhD students, scientists and researchers in need to analyze quantitative data.
