Cinematic Video Lighting
1h 44m | Video: h264, yuv420p, 1280x720 | Audio: aac, 48KHz, 2 ch | 1.92 GB
Genre: eLearning | English

There's no reason to fall back on the same old 3-point lighting techniques for every shoot. Cinematic lighting, which takes its cue from film, can add drama and visual interest to any production. Using diffusion, small tweaks in color temp, bounced light, and other cinematic lighting tricks, you can achieve a much richer look and feel.
This series of tutorials, taught by producer, DP, and educator Jem Schofield of theC47, shows you the equipment and time-tested lighting techniques you need to get cinematic results. Filmed on location at a California brewery-a set with a lot of action and a lot of angles-the course takes you through the process of planning, lighting, and shooting video using largely cinematic (low-key) lighting techniques. Jem uses a conversational style of direction that relies on collaboration with the crew and the clients, but the lessons are flexible enough to apply to productions of many different types and sizes, including corporate video and documentaries. By the end, you'll have the skills you need to go out and create professional lighting setups in the real world.
Topics include:
*Choosing the right video lighting equipment
*Scouting locations with good light and visual interest
*Bouncing light and blocking light
*Cutting light
*Diffusing light
*Recreating natural light
*Modifying color temperature with video lighting
*Shooting B-roll, inserts, and cutaways
*Working outdoors

Creating an InDesign Booklet Using XML

Genre: eLearning | English

Long documents can be difficult to design, but long, data-heavy documents are particularly daunting. Companies that produce directories, glossaries, and catalogs often choose to design them manually, copying and pasting content into an InDesign layout. But there's a better way. With InDesign and XML, your data-heavy designs can be almost effortless. By setting up an InDesign document with the correct tags, you can import XML data so that it flows into the document already formatted.
In these tutorials, Chad Chelius explains what XML is and then walks through the entire process in InDesign, from setting up the document and tagging the content, to cleaning the data and fine-tuning the layout. He also offers tips for saving your work in an InDesign template, to regenerate directories when new entries are added, update catalogs seasonally, etc. By the end of the course, you should be able to use this workflow to speed up data-heavy design jobs, big and small.
Topics include:
*What is XML?
*Transforming XML
*Displaying tag markers
*Setting up an InDesign document for XML import
*Creating styles
*Tagging content
*Mapping tags to styles
*Importing XML data in InDesign
*Applying master pages
*Creating a table of contents

Many designers and business owners have fabulous ideas in their heads but they can't put them down on paper in a useful way. A fashion illustrator's job is to take their random ideas, stick figures, inspiration tears, and swatches of pattern/color and turn them into illustrations that can be used to make patterns from, or illustrations that they want to use in their advertising. In this class you will learn the basics of fashion illustration so you can effectively communicate your own designs or the design and branding concepts of others.

To learn these skills you will be given 'inspiration' for a womenswear brand/store through a hodgepodge of notes and random ideas. You will then turn the "client's" direction into rough sketch concepts and one final full color illustration.
Through video lessons and curated resources, you will learn key skills like how to:
sketch the fashion figure, emphasizing pose and proportion
add color with acrylic paints to create shape and texture
add ink details to style the look and finalize the illustration
work with a client brief to execute their vision
