Description
Disclosure: This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Understandingecology begins with understanding how living organisms interact with each other and with their environment. This beginner-friendly course introducesecology fundamentals, ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation, and environmental science, providing learners with a practical foundation for understanding how natural systems function and how environmental changes affect them.
Whether you're a student, professional, nature enthusiast, or simply interested in understanding the natural world, this course provides a structured introduction to ecology with a focus on clear explanations and practical understanding rather than overly complex academic theory.
You'll begin with thefundamentals of ecology, exploring the relationships between organisms and their physical environments. You'll learn about ecological levels of organization, basic ecological principles, habitats, niches, and the factors that influence living systems.
The course then exploresenergy flow and matter cycling. You'll understand how energy moves through food chains and food webs and how important materials cycle through ecosystems. These concepts provide a foundation for understanding how ecosystems maintain their structure and function.
You'll also learn about populations and species dynamics, including population growth, limiting factors, carrying capacity, species distribution, and other factors that influence populations over time.
The course then moves into communities and species interactions. You'll explore concepts such as competition, predation, mutualism, parasitism, and other ecological relationships that shape biological communities.
A major section focuses onecosystems and biomes. You'll learn how ecosystems are structured, how organisms interact with their surroundings, and how environmental conditions contribute to different biomes and global ecological patterns.
The course also examines humans, environmental change, and ecological impact. You'll explore how human activities can influence habitats, populations, biodiversity, natural resources, and ecosystem stability.
You'll then explorebiodiversity and conservation, including the importance of biological diversity, threats to ecosystems and species, conservation approaches, habitat protection, restoration, and practical ecological solutions.
Finally, the course connects ecological concepts to real-life applications. You'll explore howenvironmental science and ecology can help us understand environmental challenges and support informed decisions related to conservation, sustainability, natural resources, and environmental management.
Designed specifically for beginners, this course uses clear explanations and practical examples to make ecology easier to understand. No previous ecology or environmental science experience is required.
