Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion (The 12" Singles) [Vinyl, 8x12"] (2020) Hi-Res
Representing a fiercely raw, organic, and deeply spiritual transformation in the band's history, Depeche Mode's 'Songs of Faith and Devotion | The 12" Singles' deluxe collector's box set offers an exhaustive exploration of their monumental 1993 masterpiece. Heavily influenced by the soaring heights of American gospel and the gritty distortion of early 90s alternative rock, the album famously saw the band step away from pure synth-pop towards live instrumentation, driven by Alan Wilder’s thunderous live drum setups and Martin Gore’s blues-infused guitar lines. Fronted by Dave Gahan’s incredibly intense, passionate vocal deliveries, this era birthed some of the most powerful anthems in their catalog, including the crushing rock-march "I Feel You", the cinematic brilliance of "Walking in My Shoes", the soulful, gospel-driven "Condemnation", and the dark, claustrophobic industrial thud of "In Your Room".
Spanning eight individual 12-inch vinyl records, this highly anticipated box set stands as a definitive document of one of alternative rock's most creative and chaotic eras. Sourced from the premium 2020 Venusnote European pressing, the collection compiles rare international club remixes and experimental reworks, including the jagged industrial textures of the "Grungy Gonads Mix", the hypnotic, sub-aquatic atmosphere of the "Ambient Whale Mix", and driving alternative club interpretations by Renegade Soundwave, Underworld, and Apex. It also compiles essential non-album tracks like "My Joy" and "Death's Door" alongside an incredible array of ferocious live recordings captured during the legendary and exhausting Devotional Tour. Meticulously archived into pristine 24-bit / 192 kHz resolution by the master ripper thezabs, this transfer utilizes a reference Rega P10 turntable, an Apheta 3 MC cartridge, and a PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter, beautifully preserving the immense dynamic range, raw tape warmth, and heavy percussive energy of this landmark release.
