This Limited Deluxe Edition in the form of a 64CD set includes orchestral repertoire which was recorded as part of a unique partnership between Decca and the Vienna Philharmonic which began in 1950.
Over the course of nearly half a century, this partnership was the catalyst for standard-setting pioneer work in the field of recording techniques on the part of DECCA and provides an artistic documentation of numerous recording firsts and musical milestones and rarities.
The Vienna Philharmonic, as well as generations of outstanding collaborating artists, found an ideal recording environment in the former Sophiensaal.
