Create Your Original Character From Concept To Illustration Do you love creating & drawing original characters, but get stuck on what steps to take Then I'm here to help! )
Original characters are very personal & special. They allow us to create our own worlds & stories, often by drawing inspiration from our own life experiences and perceptions. However, the process of bringing an original character to life can feel difficult and confusing.
No Worries!
In this class, I will walk you through my process of creating a character, from brainstorming the first concept to the final illustration, so you can bring your original characters to life!
We will begin by brainstorming a character concept using a simple template, followed by sketching our own character sheet & concluding with a final illustration!
I'll use Clipstudio Paint for drawing & painting, you can get a free trial on their website (Free Trial Download - Clip Studio Paint), or use any other drawing app of your choice, like Photoshop or Krita (free). If you don't own a drawing tablet, you can still follow through much of the class using a simple sketchbook & any art supplies you own )
What you'll learn
The 3 principles for character creation simplicity, asymmetry, relatability
Drawing from reference searching & using reference photos to aid you in the illustration process
Illustration workflow sketching, inking & painting
What you'll do
Design your character using a simple template to brainstorm all your ideas
Search for reference material, according to how you want to illustrate your character
Sketch out a character sheet, to get a feel of who your character is as an individual
Make a final illustration of your character using your reference material
I hope you find creating your original characters to be as rewarding as I do!
