Call of Duty: Ghosts ist ein Ego-Shooter vom Entwickler Infinity Ward entwickelt. Für die Story der Singleplayer-Kampagne ist der Oscar-Preisträger Stephen Gaghan (unter anderem »Syriana« und »Traffic«) verantwortlich. Neben technischer Verbesserungen an der Engine soll auch ein deutscher Schäferhund namens Riley als neues Squadmitglied für neue spielerische Kniffe sorgen - man kann den Hund über seine Halsbandkamera auch direkt steuern. Zur Story: Die USA wurden von einem unbekannten Gegner angegriffen und fast zerstört. Zehn Jahre später kämpft der Spieler als Mitglied der Guerilla-Einheit der Ghosts gegen einen übermächtigen und technisch fortschrittlichen Feind. Der Multiplayer-Modus des Ego-Shooters soll durch dynamische Maps, auf denen Ereignisse wie Erdbeben oder eine Flut stattfinden, »runderneuert« werden.
