Extract the "Ys Seven" folder to wherever you like and start the game with "ys_s_en.bat".
At best, extract it directly to C:\, because special characters etc. might cause problems.
Use "Config.exe" to change your settings. Save with the "?????" button (2nd from left).
Change language:
The game is English fan translated as far as possible at release. Any dialog, names, items and much more should be translated.
There are some minor Chinese leftovers, but it's very playable. You shouldn't miss anything important.
There are known problems with the menu, especially the Journal/Monster Book.
The problem is the newly added "scripts_asi" folder, which translated many menu text and related stuff.
To workaround/fix that, don't use the "scripts_asi" folder. The menu text will look weird, but the game is more stable.
Use the "scripts_asi" folder only to load your game (don't go anywhere!), pause to menu and take a look into the monster book.
Take a look into the "Guide for Chinese Menu" PDF to see the translated menu.

Crack:
The game is pre-cracked with Virusek's Generic Securom 7-8 crack.
