Principles of Design Thinking
MP4 | Video: AVC 1280x720 | Audio: AAC 44KHz 2ch | Duration: 1 Hours | Lec: 44 | 462 MB
Genre: eLearning | Language: English

Design thinking is a problem-solving framework to solve business and social issues. Learn to think like a designer.
Design thinking is a problem-solving framework that is transforming fields from entertainment to international development. In this beginner-level course, you will practice each step of the design thinking process by completing a series of hands-on activities. Video lectures will introduce the mindsets and exercises used by leading designers around the world, but the bulk of your experience will take place away from your computer as you complete 17 activities with people in your school, company, or local community.
This course requires no previous experience and can be completed either independently or in teams. Whether you're an engineer, machinist, maker, artist, teacher, student, or just plain curious, you're in the right place to begin learning about design thinking.
"In short, design thinking converts need into demand. It's a human-centered approach to problem-solving that helps people and organizations become more innovative and creative." - Tim Brown, CEO and President of IDEO.
After completing this course, students will:
Gain familiarity and confidence with the design thinking process.
Develop creative confidence and practice using a positive growth mindset.
Build design-related vocabulary and visual literacy to articulate your process and decisions.
Demonstrate ability to apply design thinking methods to a real-world problem.
Contents and Overview
This course consists of 10 sections that include lectures and hands-on exercises introducing five phases of the design thinking process. Each lesson includes comprehensive lecture presentations and project exercises that include step-by-step video instruction, as well as checkpoint quizzes, challenge assignments, and a final course assessment.
At the beginning of the course, you'll be introduced to the design thinking process by leading practitioners in the field, their own design frameworks for design thinking, and the commonalities between them.
Once you've been introduced to design thinking, we'll provide you with an example challenge to help you get comfortable using the process: How might we reduce reliance on single-use plastic in our community? You will apply this challenge to five phases of the design thinking process: Understand, define, ideate, test, and refine.
We will also present you with two challenge assignments that connect design thinking to product design as a solution for complex problems. We will introduce two Autodesk CAD tools to help you bring your design concepts to life: Tinkercad and Fusion 360. At the end of the assignment, you will be able to apply the design thinking process, Tinkercad, and Fusion 360 skills you learned to create a CAD model of your own.
At the end of the course, you'll learn to refine your design solution prototype through iteration and testing. By gaining familiarity and confidence with the design thinking process, you'll learn to apply these methods to problems in the real-world around you.

The goal of this course is to present practical techniques while avoiding obstacles of abstract mathematical theories. To achieve this goal, the DSP techniques are explained in plain language, not simply proven to be true through mathematical derivations.
Still keeping it simple, this course comes in different programming languages and hardware architectures so that students can put the techniques to practice using a programming language or hardware architecture of their choice. This version of the course uses the Python programming language.
By the end of this course you should be able develop the Convolution Kernel algorithm in python, develop 17 different types of window filters in python, develop the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) algorithm in python, develop the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) algorithm in pyhton, design and develop Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters in python, design and develop Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filters in python, develop Type I Chebyshev filters in python, develop Type II Chebyshev filters in python, perform spectral analysis on ECG signals in python, develop Butterworth filters in python, develop Match filters in python, simulate Linear Time Invariant (LTI) Systems in python, even give a lecture on DSP and so much more. Please take a look at the full course curriculum.

This course is aimed at the absolute beginner, you don't need any coding experience at all!
We'll start out by setting downloading and installing the Sublime Text Editor - for free. That's the only tool you'll need to start writing and running Javascript code.
Then, we'll dive into very basic computer science concepts. Things like:
Printing to the Screen
Variables
Numbers and Simple Math
Comparison Operators
Assignment Operators
After that, we'll move into more intermediate topics like:
Conditional If/Else Statements
While Loops
For Loops
Fizzbuzz
Finally we'll finish up with more advanced topics like:
Arrays
Objects
Functions
After that we'll learn web development things like
Pop Ups
Web Forms
And More...

This class is an exploration of the soft painterly edit.

As we are learning we have visions to create something. I always get my inspiration from movies. I create drawings of mine and then make time for play shooting, or wait for the perfect client to walk through the door.
It starts with light & styling. Choosing the correct aperture that you can enhance blur in the right places. Pick your tones and print. This look is perfect for dance and creative romantic portraits.
Join me as I walk you through my process of setting the image tone from RAW file to Photoshop and then to choosing the final tones and colors.
