    1. Das richtige Forum

Wähle ein passendes Unterforum für dein Angebot

Rafael Kubelik - Icon (The Complete HMV Recordings) (13CD Box set,2014)

21mf4si.jpg

2014 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 3.79 Gb

Kubelík’s Czech identity is powerfully asserted with works by Smetana (including movements from Má vlast), Dvořák, Janáček and Martinů, but the box also includes Austro-German repertoire (Mozart, Beethoven Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms), Russian composers (Tchaikovsky, Borodin) and music by Bartók and Nielsen. Kubelík’s recordings for EMI, now Warner Classics, have been by far less exploited and reissued than his recordings for DGG, and numerous recordings, including early pre-war rare performanced with the Czech Philharmonic find here there first release on CD

2012 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 1.57 Gb

Maria Callas s talent as one of the world s greatest singing actresses remains unchallenged to this day and she has acquired legendary status as one of the most iconic figures in the world of classical music. There are very few films of Callas on stage, so it is through the medium of her audio recordings that her art lives on. She recorded exclusively for EMI for most of her career, and these six CDs present a fully representative sampling of her recorded legacy on EMI.

Paavo Berglund - Icon: The Bournemouth Years (13CD Box set, 2013)

2013 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 3.79 Gb

What a great set this is: thirteen discs chock full of masterful performances, many of which have already been praised here. EMI has not included any of Berglund’s Sibelius symphonies (except the Helsinki Kullervo) since they have been issued elsewhere, nor are there any concertos, which is a pity.

Leopold Stokowski - Icon (10CD Box set, 2009)

1smdyf.jpg

2009 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 3.32 Gb

One of the most flamboyant conductors of the 20th century, Leopold Stokowski was born at Marylebone in London in 1882, the son of a Polish father and Irish mother. As a young boy he started taking violin, piano and organ lessons and, at 13, became one of the youngest students to be admitted to the Royal College of Music, where his teachers included Sir Hubert Parry and Sir Charles Villiers Stanford. He later went to Queen's College, Oxford, where he gained a Bachelor of Music degree in 1903.
His collaboration with Capitol Records resulted in a crop of some of Stokowski's most famous recordings, made using three-track stereo tape recorders. Always the great innovator, Stokowski was more than happy to cooperate with the Capitol engineers to ensure the best recorded result and these, together with those he made for United Artists with the Symphony of the Air, can be heard in this unique 10-CD Icon set.

Nicolai Gedda - Icon: 85th Birthday by Nicolai Gedda (11CD Box set, 2010)

2010 | APE, Lossless | Classical | 3.37 Gb

Nicolai Gedda turned 85 on 11 July this year (2010) and this jumbo box is a well-timed and fitting tribute to the aristocrat among singers. He had a long and glorious career, making his debut at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in April 1952 - as Chapelou in Adam’s Le Postillon de Lonjumeau - and as late as 2003 he took part in a recording of Mozart’s Idomeneo. By an act of providence EMI’s producer Walter Legge heard him in Stockholm and immediately signed him up for a recording of Boris Godunov, the first in an almost uncountable number of recordings.

Michael Rabin - Icon: Young Genius of the Violin (6CD Box set, 2012)

atqc2a.jpg

2012 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 3.37 Gb

Released to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Michael Rabin's death on 19th January 1972 this collection brings together his finest recordings on EMI Classics in one comprehensive 6CD set.
Rabin was widely regarded as the finest virtuoso violinist of his generation and despite dying at the young age of 36 after suffering with a neurological illness his fame continues long after his death.
He was critically acclaimed for his performances and recordings of Paganini and included in the set are Rabin's two recorded versions of the Paganini Violin Concerto No.1 in D Major Op. 6 from 1956 and 1960. He famously performed this work at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Dmitri Mitropolous at the age of 15 in November 1951. The full 24 Paganini Caprices for Solo Violin are also included in the set.
Displaying technical mastery with a maturity of interpretation that belied his years, Rabin's bel canto playing style is shown in full force in this collection with excellent recordings of Bach, Wieniawski, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Debussy and Bruch.
This collection offers the listener a wonderful selection of violin repertoire with exquisite playing sure to delight any fan of the instrument.

Melos Ensemble - Icon: Music Among Friends (11CD Box set, 2011)

2s79b29.jpg

2011 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 3.51 Gb

The Melos Ensemble was formed by musicians who wanted to play chamber music scored for a larger ensemble in a combination of strings, winds and other instruments with the quality of musical rapport only regular groups can achieve. All its members were excellent musicians who held positions in notable orchestras and appeared as soloists. The clarinetist Gervase de Peyer, flautist Richard Adeney, viola player Cecil Aronowitz and cellist Terence Weil were the founding members. The principal musicians who joined the initial four were the violinists Emanuel Hurwitz and Ivor McMahon, double bass player Adrian Beers, oboist Peter Graeme, horn player Neil Sanders, bassoonist William Waterhouse, pianist Lamar Crowson and harpist Osian Ellis. Many of the recordings are classics of the Gramophone and have been rarely out of the catalogue. Here is a set bringing together all their recordings made during those fifteen halcyon years of glorious music-making.

Malcolm Sargent - Icon: The Great Recordings (18CD Box set, 2014)

2j6a4vt.jpg

2014 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 5.42 Gb

Sir Malcolm was always well turned out - King of the Promenade Concerts - and he may well have always played second fiddle to his mentor, Sir Thomas Beecham, but his baton technique was NEVER second-rate. This box is positively brimming with brilliance and Sir Malcolm's The Planets outshines all others - Sir Adrian and the LPO run it neck and neck! - in my opinion. His Sibelius is outstanding - Sargent was no stranger to Ainola and he was awarded "The White Rose", for his services to Finnish music. Sir Malcolm's Vaughan Williams is pure poetry in motion.... The Wasps is spectacular, fizzing with energy and Serenade to Music has a depth and seriousness which do this music justice - "Dark as Erebus", indeed.

2009 | APE, Lossless | Classical | 1.96 Gb

Lucia Popp (born Lucia Poppová) entered the Academy in Bratislava primarily to study drama. Her voice was a mezzo-soprano but her musical lessons developed a high upper register to such a degree that her professional debut was as Queen of the Night in Mozart’s opera Die Zauberflöte in Bratislava. In 1963 Otto Klemperer heard her and she duly recorded this role with him in 1971. Also in 1963 Herbert von Karajan invited her to join the State Opera in Vienna where her first role was Barbarina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.

2012 | FLAC, Lossless | Classical | 5.81 Gb

English pianist John Ogdon s international career launched when he won the coveted first prize at the Moscow Tchaikovsky competition in 1961. His recordings from this time not only attest to his remarkable virtuosity but also his determination to explore both rarer and modern repertoire and give them the performances that show them to their best advantage. This collection contains popular classics with concertos by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Grieg as well as rarer works including Ronald Stevenson s Passacaglia on DSCH.
