    1. Das richtige Forum

Wähle ein passendes Unterforum für dein Angebot

BEST Super Audio CDs [SACD] Collection (Update)

Vangelis - Blade Runner (Audio Fidelity) - 1982/2013 [SACD]

Artist: Vangelis
Title Of Album: Blade Runner (AF)
Year Of Release: 1982/2013
Label: Audio Fidelity
Genre : Score, Ambient
Quality: Conversion of SACD (multi-channel music) , Audio Codec: DSD 2.0
Bitrate: DSD 2.8 MHz
Total Time: 00:57:42
Total Size: 2.33 GB

Arriving 12 years after the release of the film, Vangelis’ soundtrack to the 1982 futuristic noir detective thriller Blade Runner is as bleak and electronically chilling as the film itself. By subtly interspersing clips of dialogue and sounds from the film, Vangelis creates haunting soundscapes with whispered subtexts and sweeping revelations, drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern textures and evoking neo-classical structures. Often cold and forlorn, the listener can almost hear the indifferent winds blowing through the neon and metal cityscapes of Los Angeles in 2019. The sultry, saxophone-driven “Love Theme” has since gone on as one of the composer’s most recognized pieces and stands alone as one of the few warm refuges on an otherwise darkly cold (but beautiful) score. An unfortunate inclusion of the 1930s-inspired ballad “One More Kiss, Dear” interrupts the futuristic synthesized flow of the album with a muted trumpet and Rudy Vallée-style croon. However well done (and appropriate in the movie), a forlorn love song that sounds as if it is playing on a distant Philco radio in The Waltons’ living room jarringly breaks the mood of the album momentarily (although with CD technology, this distraction is easily bypassed). Fans of Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking film (as well as those interested in the evolution of electronic music) will warmly take this

Elvis Presley – King Creole (1958/2013) [SACD-R][OF]

Pop, Rock | SACD ISO: DSD64 2.0 > 1-bit/2.8224 MHz | Artwork | 919 MB + 5% Recovery
Label: Audio Fidelity | Release Year: 1958/2013

I consider this to be the best Elvis soundtrack album so I was looking forward to getting this sacd. Pleased to say it was worth the wait! Before playing the disc I dug out my old Japanese paper sleeve edition cd for a sound quality comparison as I always considered it to be a benchmark cd for this album. What a difference! The jap cd sounds harsh compared to this sacd version. Stunning sound, just so many little things I never noticed before. The song "Crawfish" always sounded a bit distant before but not so here. Also the backbeat to it really lifts the song in a way I never heard before. The disc oozes quality and its a fair price too. Now if the "Loving you" soundtrack gets the sacd treatment I will be a happy man!

Jon Anderson – Olias of Sunhillow - 1976/2014 [SACD]

Artist: Jon Anderson
Title Of Album: Olias of Sunhillow
Year Of Release: 1976/2014
Label: Audio Fidelity
Genre : Progressive Rock, New Age, Ambient
Quality: Conversion of SACD (multi-channel music) , Audio Codec: DSD64 2.0
Bitrate: DSD 2.8 MHz
Total Time: 00:44:26
Total Size: 1.81 GB

Inspired by the artwork of Roger Dean and the writings of Ver Stanley Alder, Jon Anderson developed an entire story around the idea of an interstellar exodus from Sunhillow, writing this album around the narrative (named for the spaceship’s architect, Olias). The idea may seem overly ambitious, but Anderson fills the record with enough magical moments to delight fans of Yes’ mystic side. The music is written and performed almost entirely by Anderson, who dubs vocals, plays guitar and harp, and adds percussion and the occasional synthesizer to flesh out his ideas so that at no point does the music lose its spellbinding effect for lack of sonic detail. Olias of Sunhillow is faithful to the spirit of Yes, though decidedly more airy than that band’s visceral style — its closest comparison would be Fragile’s “We Have Heaven” or Going for the One’s “Wonderous Stories” (which was clearly influenced by this record) on the vocal tracks, and Vangelis on the instrumental tracks. Although the album is effective in its entirety, “Sound Out the Galleon,” “Olias (To Build the Moorglade),” and “Solid Space” are some of the more memorable excerpts. The arrangements incorporate elements of the four tribes of Sunhillow, the most noticeable being Oriental elements that prefigure Vangelis’ own China (especially on the opening “Ocean Song”). While there are several songs that could have easily fit in Yes’ own catalog, and the lyrics continue to mine the mystical musings that Yes fans had come to enjoy, Olias of Sunhillow is not the missing Yes album some might hope it to be, though it does deliver on the promise that the Jon & Vangelis collaborations seemed to hold. If possible, pick up the LP version of this release, since the packaging is stunning and features terrific artwork by Dave Roe.

Finally, an audiophile Christmas sampler! Tracks personally selected by Acoustic Sounds' Chad Kassem! Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound! 3 Editions Available: 200-gram double LP on black vinyl 180-gram double LP on translucent red and green vinyl - First 1,000 copies gold foil-numbered! Hybrid Stereo SACD - plays in both CD & SACD players! Vinyl editions feature a gatefold tip-on jacket from Stoughton Printing SACD authored by Gus Skinas at the Super Audio Center "The Wonderful Sounds of Christmas, Acoustic Sounds fabulous new Christmas music double LP set — pressed on separate red and green 180 gram vinyl LPs (or 200-gram black vinyl, or Hybrid Stereo SACD!) — (is) such a pleasure to listen to. I have never heard Nat King Cole's 'The Christmas Song' sound better than it does as the opening track of this 22 track set. Even Bobby Helms essential chestnut sounds much improved here. Chad Kassem who assembled this collection got almost all the hits: Leroy Anderson's version of his 'Sleigh Ride,' Eartha, of course, singing 'Santa Baby,' and Hey, what Christmas music collection would be worth it's weight in tinsel and empty toddy glasses without Der Bingel's 'White Christmas.' There's even a reputable version, in what's become a very long and distinguished Christmas music tradition of duets on 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' ...between a typically low key Betty Carter and a unusually subdued Ray Charles. ... Two super essential classics (Kassem) did rope in however are the pair of Christmas numbers recorded by the great Charles Brown, both of which are among his biggest hits: 'Please Come Home For Christmas' and 'Merry Christmas Baby.'" — Robert Baird, Stereophile, Dec. 18, 2015 "...this is a swell set of well-chosen Christmas tunes, smartly sequenced. ... The double LP gatefold package is festively presented with insider liner notes by Robert Hull that provide an excellent backgrounder on each of the tunes, written from a music lover's and a record collector's perspective. Ryan K. Smith mastered the set at Sterling Sound from high resolution digital sources, which, given the nature of a compilation like this makes sense for reasons both financial and technical. Kassem made sure to get high resolution 96/24 transfers of all tracks where possible and the sound is very good throughout." — Michael Fremer, AnalogPlanet.com. Read the whole review here. Worthy of audiophile treatment. Not every Christmas tune meets that high standard. But each song on this LP, with each song chosen by Acoustic Sounds owner and CEO Chad Kassem, sounds better than it ever has before. These are some of the most familiar - and, in most cases, well-recorded - Christmas tracks ever. We feel we're bringing you a record that you and your family will enjoy every year forevermore. These truly are The Wonderful Sounds Of Christmas. From the peaceful solemnity of Harry Simeone Chorale's "The Little Drummer Boy" to the festive spirit of Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad," The Wonderful Sounds Of Christmas brings you the very best examples of holiday songs ever recorded. With wonderful music in abundance, this Christmas compilation offers a celebration of the season's most joyous and cherished songs. Truly, Christmas has never sounded better! Christmas compilations have been perennials for the music industry for many decades, but rarely has there ever been a collection like this one in which the nuances of Christmas recordings are presented with such care. The masterful audio quality on this compilation captures every musical moment - as if you were listening to the delicate sound of a snowflake touching your ear. For the vinyl version we turned to Quality Record Pressings for drop-dead gorgeous 200-gram & 180-gram super-silent platters packaged in an old-style tip-on jacket from Stoughton Printing, the best there
