The novel continues where it ended in the second book, following the events about the novel’s main protagonist, Ethan Burke, the town of Wayward Pines and its citizens.
The story of the second book ended just before Ethan was about to reveal a hideout of rebels from Wayward Pines, to deranged Dr. Pilcher, who wants to take back control of the entire town by either eliminating the rebels or persuading them to join Pilcher’s cause.
In the third book, we are about to see the conclusion of the entire trilogy. There appears to be a heavy conflict approaching between the rebels and those who still follow Pilcher. At the same time, countless number of Aberrations, strange mutated humans, lurk everywhere, waiting how and when to breach the defenses of the town.
The last two novels were interwoven with tension and mystery, and we cannot say that we do not expect more or less from this sequel.
How will everything turn up? What will happen with Burke? Will Pilcher be able to eliminate the rebels?
