Escape Dead Island ist ein Survival-Mystery-Spiel, mit dem der Handlungsbogen zwischen den beiden Zombie-Actiontiteln Dead Island und Dead Island 2 gespannt werden soll. Darin gibt es ausschließlich eine Einzelspieler-Kampagne, die sich um den Dokumentarfilmer Cliff Calo dreht. Kurz nach dem Geschehen von Dead Island begibt sich Cliff auf die Insel Narapela, um über den Banoi-Ausbruch zu berichten. Während seiner Recherchen muss er sich selbst vor Zombies in Acht nehmen, soll aber auch mehr über den Ursprung der Seuche aufdecken.
